It currently provides a range of services which support older people and carers of all ages by providing information, advice and signposting on a wide number of issues and works very closely with the Carers Helpline. It hosts Wigan Independent Advice Centre one morning/week for benefits advice, and the Health Trainers use our centre for consultations. We also offer a one-to-one counselling service provided by fully qualified counsellors. Very importantly, Pensioners Link provides a wide range of social activities, which are very well attended by older people and carers. Activities include arts and crafts, exercise and relaxation, holistic therapies, coffee mornings, tai chi, discussion group, Spanish and IT. The people who come along to the centre thoroughly enjoy themselves and, for many, it is a lifeline to meet up socially with friends they have made over the weeks and months (and for many over the years).
Pensioners Link has various outreach projects which are continually changing and developing to cover the needs and wishes of the over 50’s and carers throughout the Wigan Borough.
Our work is carried out by an excellent team of volunteers who are friendly and caring and would love to meet you. They are supported by Pensioners Link staff to ensure you are happy with the service.
