Pensioners Link

About Pensioners Link

Pensioners Link was established in 1988 and was the vision of two pensioners, Alan Taylor and Peter Kenny. They believed that, provided older people are given the necessary information and advice, with support at difficult times, they would be able to remain independent. An important element of their vision was to see organisations and people linked together so as to provide maximum benefit for individual older people.

Charity No 1 003 175

It is a registered charity, based at 27 Charles Street, Leigh, working with and for the benefit of people over 55 throughout the borough of Wigan.

It currently provides a range of services which support older people by providing information, advice and signposting on a wide number of issues. The Carers Centre and Carers Help Line are also part of our organisation, it also hosts Wigan Independent Advice Centre one morning per week for benefits advice, and provides a counselling service. Very importantly, within the centre itself, it provides a wide range of social activities, which are very well attended by older people. Activities include arts and crafts, exercise and relaxation, aromatherapy, coffee mornings, tai chi, stress therapy, Spanish and IT. The people who come along to the centre thoroughly enjoy themselves and, for many, it is a lifeline to meet up socially with friends they have made over the weeks and months (and for many over the years).

This is the number of visitors to this site.
