Our Services

Wigan and Leigh Pensioners Link provide a wide range of services, targeted at helping older people by working with older people. Our superb army of volunteers support our Service Coordinators in ensuring that our clients get the best help and support.

We provide a range of services across Wigan and Leigh.

Books & More

This service is a continuation of the library's Home Delivery Service that served our borough for many years. The service involves the delivery and collection of library books to those who are unable to access their local library themselves and who would not normally see anyone on a regular basis.

We are proud to offer a free professional counselling service to anyone who is aged 50 and over and lives in the Wigan Borough.  Please note, we have a waiting list for this service.

Working in partnership with Wigan Council and the Wigan, Wrightington and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, we offer reassurance for the patient when they are discharged from hospital.  HomeSafe offers an important intervention that helps to reduce re-admission into hospital and social isolation.

Time Limited Contact Scheme (referred to as 'TLC')

'TLC' provides free low-level support, such as shopping and signposting to other services, for a maximum of six visits for people aged 50 and over, who are experiencing changing times.

Helping Hands (referred to as 'HH')

A team of volunteers will organise your shopping and bring it to your door. The service can be arranged once a week or fortnightly. A home visit assessment is carried out before starting the service.  Please note, this service carries a charge.

Welcome Home Bag

We provide a bag of essential food and personal care items for people over 50 following a change in their lives
